Digital Media Manager

McConnell Communications is seeking a highly motivated, adept digital media manager to work at its Detroit-based business. Our firm has worked at the intersection of social justice and communication since its inception 20 years ago, and approximately 30 percent of our firm’s work is for political campaigns. We’ve worked with small nonprofits to Fortune 500 companies and we’d love to work with you.

Description:

The digital media manager assists in the development and execution of strategic digital communications for McConnell Communications and its clientele. The digital media manager monitors and maintains a strong web and social media presence, creates graphic design materials, and composes newsletters, websites, social media posts, and other related digital content.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic digital communications for McConnell Communications and its clientele across social media and other digital platforms

  • Create text and graphics for social media, print, emails, websites, digital marketing, and other communications materials while adhering to brand or styling guidelines

  • Develop, manage, and maintain social media accounts on platforms including Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), YouTube, and TikTok

  • Draft and execute social media plans and campaigns, and advise the firm and clients on best strategies that align with campaign goals or current objectives

  • Provide regular analysis reports and goals on social media metrics

  • Monitor web and social media trends and stay up-to-date on best practices

  • Provide social media and website feedback and coaching based on best practices

  • Create and maintain websites and assist with website development, including SEO and designing digital assets

Requirements:

Knowledge equivalent to what typically would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field, plus at least two years of experience with social media management, digital marketing and/or advertising, graphic design and creative services, and web design — or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications:

Prior experience with:

  • Social media management tools (Meta Business Suite, Hootsuite)

  • Graphic design software (Canva, Photoshop)

  • Email marketing services (MailChimp, Every Action)

  • Website building platforms (SquareSpace, Elementor)

  • Video conferencing applications (Zoom, Google Meet)

Additional Qualifications:

  • Excellent spelling, grammar, and communication skills

  • Ability to perform under pressure and work on multiple projects at once

  • Ability to work independently

  • An affinity for social justice and progressive causes
